What are the Rings of Wonder?

The Rings of Wonder are known by many names.  The Magic Chain, Drop Chain, Tumble Rings, and, by magic shops at one time, the Afghan Rings.

It's a curious and complicated-looking chain of over two dozen interconnected rings.

You start by holding the chain by the top ring.  Grasp one of the two links below it and drop the top ring away from you.

The ring cascades down through the entire chain, link by link, to become the new bottom ring.

It's a compelling action that involves sight, sound, and touch.

You see the ring impossibly flow through each of the others.

You hear the muted jingle as it travels from top to bottom.

You feel the soft vibrations of its passage through the chain.

Photos and videos don't do it justice. It's something that has to be experienced.

How does it work?

While it appears for all the world that the top ring drops to the bottom, the motion is actually a compelling illusion.

When released, the top ring twists around and only falls to the bottom of the ring that you are still holding.  When it does, it causes the rings below to drop and twist around the same way, in sequence, all the way down the chain.  The effect is mesmerizing.

You can own one, too.

You may order ready-made sets here or purchase an instant-download ebook that describes how to make your own sets of the Rings of Wonder.  Please use the menu above for details.  Thank you for coming.
